· Ballybunion Old Golf Course, Golfing Club
No matter how many times you golf there everything about Ballybunion Old course seems large scale. Big club-house, long holes, steep drops and climbs, but if a golfer such as Tom Watson rates it as his favourite golf course, then it must be good!
· Doonbeg Golf Course, Golfing Club
Playing along 1.5 miles of extensive dune-land the course. Doonbeg Golf Course is laid out in typical links style of 9 holes out and 9 back, affords views of the Atlantic Ocean from 16 of the 18 holes and plays 6,800 yards from the back tees.
· Lahinch Golf Course, Golfing Club
Lahinch Golf Course is known as the "St Andrews of Ireland", due to its design by Tom Morris for the Black Watch army regiment garrisoned there in 1890, Lahinch was rated by Alister Mackenzie, who remodelled it, as "the most enjoyable course to play ever designed".
· Old Head Golf Course, Golfing Club
Twenty miles south of Cork, Old Head Golf Links perches spectacularly on a promotory jutting out into the Atlantic Ocean.
Nine of the 18 holes hug rugged 180 feet high cliffs, reminding one somewhat of Pebble Beach and Cypress Point-type topography.

Tralee was the first course in Ireland designed by Arnold Palmer. Receiving wide acclaim, the course borders the beach where 'Ryan's Daughter' was filmed and the back nine holes slice their way through huge, rugged dunes in the same fashion as Ballybunion further up the Atlantic coast or Cruden Bay in Scotland.

The most northerly golfing courses in Ireland,Ballyliffin is situated in a sparsely-populated part of the country but not terribly difficult to reach and certainly worth the effort.

The front nine here at Portstewart Golf Course offers some of the finest links in Irish golf as well as some of the most spectacular views.
Near Castlerock, the view from the 1st tee across three miles of beach to the hills of Inishowen is worth the trip alone
· Royal County Down Golf Course, Golfing Club
One of the world's greatest courses, Royal County Down follows the curve of Newcastle Bay in the shadow of the Mountains of Mourne.
The front nine is certainly among the best in the world, and the 9th is one of the most powerful golf holes anywhere.
· Royal Portrush Golf Course, Golfing Club
The only course outside Scotland or England to host the Open Championship, Royal Portrush is a marvellous test of golf, with superb views to Dunluce Castle and, beyond, towards the Western Isles of Scotland.
Golf Eastern Ireland
· County Louth ( Baltray ) Golf Course, Golfing Club
Set in Baltray, itself one of Ireland's great beauty spots, this hidden gem was designed by T.C. Simpson and possesses all the characteristics of links golf from tee to green.
· Portmarnock Golf Course, Golfing Club
Founded in 1894 and originally reached by boat, Portmarnock has played host to countless championships, most notably the Irish Open, the Canada (World) Cup, the Walker Cup and old Dunlop Masters. The 15th hole, a par 3, is particularly fine.

One of the very few new links courses to be designed in Ireland, the European benefits from superb links land in the scenic setting of Brittas Bay.

A wonderful example of a traditional links, close to Portmarnock and to Dublin, The Island was designed by Alister Mackenzie (who created Augusta with Bobby Jones).
· The K Club Golf Course, Golfing Club
The Kildare Hotel & Country Club near Dublin now offers two highly-manicured parkland layouts in the gentle valley of the River Liffey, which winds through the estate. Both designed by Arnold Palmer, the original Palmer Course will be the venue for the 2006 Ryder Cup.

The first few holes at Portmarnock provide a relatively straightforward start to the round but the course then toughens up, with some especially good holes amongst the dunes on the back nine.
