In June 2004 the British Amateur returned to the Old Course after a gap of 23 years and the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews held its 250th anniversary celebrations.
Demand for 2004 tee-times has been considerable, as will be the demand for 2005, when the British Open returns in July. Direct applications from golfers for reserved Old Course tee-times next year will only be accepted by St Andrews Links Trust, which runs all the local courses, up to the end of June 2004. Beyond this, reserved tee-times will be available via some tour operators and local hotels but not to golfers applying directly.
