Royal Troon Golf Course has hosted the British Open a total of eight times, starting in 1923. In 1923, Arthur Havers beat out 222 other contestants to take the title. In 1962 fans watched in awe as golf legend Arnold Palmer took his second consecutive Open title at Royal Troon.
