  NEWS UPDATE
News UpdateThe airlines have established their summer schedules for Scotland and Ireland. Continental will continue to offer round trip non-stop service from Newark to Glasgow and Dublin (and on to Shannon). Aer Lingus offers non-stop service from Boston to Dublin and Shannon while American, Aer Lingus and Delta also offer non-stop service from New York-JFK to Dublin and Shannon. American has non-stop service to Glasgow from Chicago, while Aer Lingus has added Dublin/Shannon service from Los Angeles, Chicago and Baltimore. For those with frequent flyer or other mileage the alternative may be connections through London Heathrow, Gatwick or Brussels.

Planning remains the key element in a successful golf trip to Britain and Ireland. All major courses require deposits to hold reserved tee times and most courses have limited visitor days and restricted hours for visitors. Our offices in St Andrews and England have the expertise that allows them to plan trips taking these constraints into account and, more importantly, the expertise to minimize distances traveled and hotel changes.

Several hotels have undertaken extensive upgrades including the Kildare Golf and Country Club near Dublin. The Royal Golf at Dornoch has completely remodeled its rooms and restaurant, while the Rusacks Hotel has redesigned its dining room so that it looks out on the 18th hole of the Old Course. The fine Perryville House in Kinsale has added new suites.

We are pleased to note that Royal Dornoch has returned its fairways to their natural design and eliminated the contour mowing - an American import which has no place on a links golf course. Prestwick hosts the British Amateur and also celebrates its 150th anniversary in July. The European GC near Dublin has added some badly needed irrigation.

We have contracted with Buckley's in Ireland for use of their smart new executive coaches, which incorporate leather seats, video, drinks cabinet and toilet. The Buckley's drivers are competent guides as well.
